The most popular: Széchenyi Thermal Bath

The most popular thermal spa in Budapest, in the only big spa in the Pest side. It is huge, with a fantastic outdoor and indoor pools, saunas. It’s outdoor pools are not only for the good weather, it is fantastic to visit it on winter times, when the fog is hiding the view from time to time, revealing only some parts at a time.

  • Mon – Sun: Outdoor swimming pools, steam : 6 am to 10 pm
    Thermal department: 6 am to 7 pm

Fanciest architecture: Gellért Thermal Bath, 3D view

Located in the Buda side (the left side of Budapest, separated by the river Duna), this spa has probably the nicest interiour among their close competitors, built in a special architectural style called Vienna secession (subtype of Art Nouveau).

Oldest turkish bath: the Rudas

The Ottoman (Turkish) empire occupied Hungary for 500 years ago. Around that time the turkish hygienic culture were much more advanced than the European. The Ottoman Empire built baths everywhere where they occupied new lands, so they built one in Budapest, between 1566-1578.

  • Mon – Sun: 08.00-20.00 (some parts from 06.00, until 22.00)

  • Pros: oldest turkish bath in Hungary, with great atmosphere
  • Cons: men/women days only, besides mixed days (Saturday, Sunday is mixed day, Tuesday is women only, other days: men only)

+1 hidden spa for spa-gourmets: Corinthia Royal Spa

This spa is one of the least known spa in Budapest, probably because the Corinthia Hotel would like to keep it for a special circle of guests, mostly for their own hotel guests.

The course of the Grand Boulevard (Nagykörút), upon which Corinthia Hotel Budapest resides, was marked out during the 1870s together with Andrássy Avenue, Budapest’s most impressive street.  The real development of the Grand Boulevard began once Andrássy Avenue was completed in 1884.

The Royal spa offers different treats for their guests.

  • Mon – Sun: 6:30am – 10pm daily
  • Entrance fee: 18 EUR (6:30-13.00), or 29 EUR for all day

  • Pros: facials to luxurious body treatments, very central location, art of the luxurious Corinthia Hotel, least turistic place, probably less crowded
